Profile

Doctoral Student

  • My name is Nellie Deutsch . I am currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership, specializing in curriculum and instruction at the University of Phoenix online (scheduled to finish in 2009). I am researching blended learning and instructor use of web 2.0 tools for instruction and learning in higher education.

Curriculum Development & Instructional Specialist

I have developed curriculum and instructional artifacts for English as a foreign and second language and other subjects individually and in teams throughout my MA and doctoral studies.

English Teacher

  • I am a Canadian (Toronto) residing in Israel. I have been teaching English as a foreign language to high school and adult learners for over 30 years. I am interested in collaborating with other teachers worldwide and do this on Building Relationship.
  • I use technology with my face-to-face classes by blending computer programs and the Internet.
  • I teach English via computer related topics such a MS and other applications and computer hardware.
  • I teach English by involving my high school students in international collaborative projects

Integrating Technology

  • In my free time, I help educators become aware of the value of integrating web 2.0 tools for instruction and learning on a Moodle website called Integrating Technology: Exploring New Domains. I am doing this on a voluntary basis because I am passionate about learning and would like to see e-learning available and free worldwide. I believe collaboration is the key to improving education and ultimately contributing to world peace.

Digifolio

Digifolio is one of many online courses developed for EVO09. Although I am moderatoating the course, I was asked to remove the content from Wikieducator since EVO09 and TESOL are using pbwiki and no other wiki. However, I will be reflecting on the course and adding resources on digital portfolio identification and e-portfolios.

Storytelling Conference Review, Monday, Nov. 17, 2008

On Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, my Survey of Human Communication college class in Manhattan, New York, reviewed our Storytelling Conference online of last Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, thanks to Nellie Deutsch's meticulous TipCam video recording of the event she shared with us!

Here you will see Alex watching and listening to his own contributions, and the video ends with Bryan, watching and listening to his international sharing of the folktale, "Ten Jugs of Wine."

Next Friday, I trained the students shown in this video, how to go to Device Settings, to test their audio and their webcams as per the opening of the video here.

We look forward to sharing this coming Friday at 4 pm, EST (New York City time), for a 3rd Storytelling Conference hosted by Nellie.

Bring your story to tell and see you then!
