Marketing a Destination
This course takes a look at how Regional Tourism Organisations (RTO's) - in this case Tourism Queenstown markets the resort of Queenstown, both domestically and internationally. To fully understand the RTO role however we must also look at the role and strategy of New Zealand's National Tourism Organisation, (Tourism New Zealand) in the marketing process
To do
1. Today we will begin looking at the process of marketing - in particular an introduction to the 8 basic concepts of marketing, (slideshare) we will be applying to our destination of choice, the resort of Queenstown (video).
- To start, lets take a look at some destinations http://blip.tv/file/167862/ What did you think? Looks amazing doesn't it. Now its your turn - but I don't expect you to create a video like that rather one like this http://blip.tv/file/319901/. You need to pair up and create your own script and video for any destination of your choice. Maximum time for video 2-minutes. Be as creative as you like! While we are on the subject of Paris enjoy these photos which I took when I visited last July. http://www.flickr.com/photos/30233330@N03/sets/72157607134681578/
